Storynest — Terms of Service

Welcome to Storynest. By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Storynest.

Storynest is operated by the team at support@trystorynest.app. When we say "we", "us", or "Storynest", we mean the operator.

1. Who can use Storynest

• You must be at least 18 years old and be the parent or legal guardian of the child you create a profile for.
• One parent account may contain multiple child profiles (subject to plan limits).
• Children never sign in and never contract with us — the parent is the contracting party.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us immediately at support@trystorynest.app if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity on your account.

You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

3. Subscription & billing

Storynest offers a free tier (limited to 3 lifetime stories, 1 child, 1 world) and a Premium plan (unlimited stories, multiple worlds, story history, priority generation, future features).

• Free trial: 3 days, one per Apple ID / Google account. Full Premium features during trial.
• Premium: billed monthly or yearly, in local currency, via App Store or Google Play.
• Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• Cancellation: manage or cancel through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — we cannot cancel on your behalf.
• Refunds: governed by Apple's and Google's refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

Prices may change. If we change prices for renewals, we will notify you in advance and you may cancel before the change takes effect.

4. Content generated by Storynest

Storynest generates story text, audio narration, and (optionally) illustrations using AI models on your behalf. You understand that:

• Content is generated dynamically and may vary between sessions.
• We apply automatic moderation to keep content warm, calm, and age-appropriate. Rarely, moderation may reject a story and we may generate a replacement.
• Content is intended for personal, non-commercial family use. You may listen, read, save locally, and share with your immediate household.
• You may not sell, redistribute, publish, or use generated content for commercial purposes without our written consent.
• You may not use Storynest to generate content that is harmful, sexual, violent, hateful, defamatory, or intended to harm children in any way.

5. Character consistency & child data

You provide your child's first name, age, favorite animal, favorite color, and dream profession so we can personalise stories. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle this data.

You confirm that you have the legal authority to provide this information about your child and to consent to the processing described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
• Access the app or its services by any means other than the officially published clients.
• Interfere with the operation of Storynest, or attempt to overload our servers.
• Circumvent quota limits or use automation to generate content in bulk.
• Share your account credentials with others outside your household.
• Use Storynest to violate applicable laws.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Availability & changes

We do our best to keep Storynest available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. If we retire the service, we will give reasonable notice and honour outstanding subscription periods where possible.

8. Third-party services

Storynest depends on third-party services (Apple, Google, Supabase, OpenAI, Replicate, RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry). Their outages or changes can affect Storynest. Their own terms apply where you interact with them (for example, App Store purchase terms).

9. Intellectual property

The Storynest name, logo, app, design, and code are owned by us. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal family use for as long as you have a valid account.

Generated content that features your child's name and preferences is licensed to you for the household use described in Section 4.

10. Disclaimer

Storynest is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranty that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, or be error-free. Any recommendation implied by generated content is for entertainment only and is not medical, psychological, or educational advice.

Storynest is not a replacement for parental presence at bedtime. Please supervise your child's use of the app.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or 50 USD, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow this limitation; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using Storynest at any time by uninstalling the app or deleting your account. We may terminate or suspend access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, dispute resolution) will survive termination.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and we agree to try to resolve any dispute in good faith through the contact address before turning to courts of competent jurisdiction.

If you reside in the EU/UK, mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction still apply.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after 30 days from notice constitutes acceptance.
